In Japan’s food service industry, you will be exposed to a wide range of dining formats starting from traditional washoku (Japanese cuisine) restaurants to modern, international dining experiences. As a key member of the restaurant staff, you’ll help to maintain Japan’s high standards for customer service and food presentation. Your role may range from being a chef specializing in local delicacies to managing front-of-house operations where you’ll be in direct contact with customers.

  • Presentation: In Japan, food is not just about taste it’s about presentation. Understanding the importance of aesthetics in dish preparation is crucial.
  • Menu Development: Assisting in the creation or adaptation of menus based on seasonal ingredients or customer preferences.

Leadership: In some cases, SSW workers may be trained to supervise small teams, ensuring smooth restaurant operations during shifts.
